A Classic Hike with Fantastic Views from Ovacik to Faralya
The 550 km long Lycian Way is deemed as one of the best walking trails in the world. It is furnished not only with fantastic scenery but also countless ancient Lycian sites well intermingled with fascinating domestic life.
Our walk will start at Ovacik which marks the beginning of the whole Lycian trail system. Having taken our souvenir photos on the spot with the “Lycian Trail Starts Here” sign we will continue onto the view point ahead from where we will watch the fantastic scenery of the world famous Oludeniz Lagoon below our feet.
Next we continue walking onto Kozagac village. The village is situated on the foot of Mount Baba (1957 m above sea level) with the 1000 meter backdrop of the mountain’s sheer north face. The views are absolutely dramatic!
After Kozagac, it will be time to stop at another village, Kirme, where we will visit a local family for a delicious home hosted lunch.
The walk from Kirme to Faralya marks the last part of our hike. As we descent onto the village, the famous butterfly canyon will start to reveal itself. Reaching the village, we will surely admire the fantastic vista of the renowned canyon before we head onto a café for a well earned drink.
PS: The hike is at moderate level and 12 km. You need sturdy shoes, water, sunhat for a comfortable walk.
